Denise Adams, PhD

Denise Adams received her BSc (Honors) from the University of Calgary and applied her training in a variety of cellular biology settings in Calgary and Edmonton. She returned to school and obtained her PhD in Clinical Epidemiology from the School of Public Health at the University of Alberta.

Dianne has 43 years of registered nursing experience.  She has worked in Emergency, Trauma, Public Health, Regulatory Affairs and now on strategies to address the opioid crisis in Alberta.

Dr. Annette E. Fleckenstein, MS PhD

Dr. Fleckenstein is currently a Professor and Assistant Dean for Basic Science Integration for the University of Utah School of Dentistry.  She is also a Professor in the Interdepartmental Program in Neuroscience at that institution.

Mohammad Hasan, ICCDPD

Mohammad Hasan currently works as an addictions counsellor at the Edmonton Day Hospital, which opened in January 2019 as a new AHS initiative that provides a cost effective alternative to inpatient care for acutely ill patients with addiction and mental health issues.

John Christy Johnson MSc (In Progress)

John Christy Johnson is a graduate student at the University of Alberta’s Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry and Faculty of Engineering. He is a research assistant with the Rehabilitation Robotics Lab, a member of the Sensory Motor Adaptive Rehabilitation Technology (SMART) Network, and advocates for mental health, inclusive design, and universal accessibility.

 

 

Ron Pohar, BScPharm, APA

Ron graduated with distinction from the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Alberta in 1995 and has practiced as a clinical pharmacist in Edmonton’s inner city for over 20 years, specializing in mental health, geriatrics and tobacco addiction (where he focuses on clients with mental illnesses).

Dr. Bernard Le Foll, MD PhD MCFP

Dr Le Foll is a clinician-scientist funded by CIHR and NIH specializing in drug addiction. He is Medical Head at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH).  He is also Head of the Translational Addiction Research Laboratory and a Professor at the University of Toronto.
