Topic: Supervised Consumption Services
Claire O’Gorman is the program coordinator for Safeworks, an Alberta Health Services harm reduction program that operates Alberta’s first supervised consumption site and Calgary’s needle distribution services. Safeworks is committed to creating an environment that reduces stigma and discrimination and improves well-being of people who use drugs through relationships built on mutual trust and respect. Before joining the Safeworks team in 2015, Claire worked in peer-led HIV harm reduction programs with youth in Vancouver, BC. As a Registered Nurse with a Masters in Public Health, Claire’s career and research endeavours focus on health equity, social justice, and community engagement.
